Hi Brian,

Following the most recent government announcement regarding Covid-19, a few things will be changing at Hungerford Leisure Centre from Monday 19 July.

We are delighted to be able to bring back even more of the activities, courses, and clubs you love, as well as increase the number of spaces available in our pools, classes, gyms and swimming lessons.

So what exactly is changing?

Showers and changing rooms
All showers and changing rooms will be available for use unless otherwise identified by your centre.

Bookings
You will no longer be required to book your gym session in advance, simply turn up at the centre whenever you would like to use it. Lane swimming and casual swimming sessions will still need to be booked. Gym bookings will be removed from Monday 26 July but you should still check in with reception.

Social distancing
Social distancing is no longer a requirement, however we ask that you’re considerate of others members, especially in crowded areas. Some equipment may still be placed out of order as we phase our sites back to normal.

Swimming lessons
We’re able to increase the capacity in our swimming lessons, meaning more spaces will be available in every one of our lessons.

Children’s parties and soft play
Where applicable, children’s parties and children’s soft play will return.

Maximum capacities
All gym and class sessions will return to full capacity.

Although Covid-19 restrictions are being relaxed in England we will continue to reopen safely and implement measures to help limit the spread of the virus.

How are we continuing to keep you safe?

Face coverings
These will be optional but encouraged in most areas, especially in crowded indoor areas, e.g. some pool spectator areas. The guidance to not wear face coverings during exercise remains. Staff will be encouraged to wear face masks in crowded indoor areas.

Staff cleaning protocols
Enhanced cleaning of high contact points will continue.

Anti-virus shield
We will continue to apply our anti-virus shield to gym equipment and high contact touchpoints at regular intervals.

Gym and fitness equipment cleaning
We will continue to provide cleaning equipment for users to sanitise equipment themselves.

Reception and till screens
Screens will stay in place at reception and till points for the foreseeable future.

If you experience any Covid-19 symptoms or generally feel unwell, you MUST NOT attend the centre. Please seek medical advice and follow NHS guidance.

We know it’s been a difficult 18 months but like you we’re delighted to see things almost back to normal. We ask that you continue to be mindful and respectful of each other and retain that wonderful community spirit that has sustained us all throughout the last 18 months.

Thank you for your understanding and patience.
